Alexandria, VA—The Center for the Advancement of Capitalism will host Dr. Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute for a press conference on “The Moral Case for Supporting Israel” at the National Press Club on Wednesday, May 8th at 9:30 AM.
“For the sake of long-term stability in the Middle East, Dr. Brook will argue that the U.S. must reject the idea of the land for peace doctrine and the idea that the Palestinians have a right to their own state,” says Provenzo. “Dr. Brook will argue, in part, that Israel’s right to exist rests on the fact that it was created as a free country that respects and protects individual rights—which cannot be said of either the Palestinians or the other Arab dictatorships.”
“Dr. Brook will argue why the United States should reverse its long-standing policy and unequivocally encourage Israel not to compromise with its enemies—and to act in its own self-interest to rid the world of the terrorist regime of Yasser Arafat,” says Nicholas Provenzo, chairman of CAC.
“Israel can best be thought of as a trip-wire in the global war against terrorism,” says Provenzo. “The enemy that attacked the United States on September 11th shares the same philosophy and motivations as the enemy that has had its sights on the destruction of Israel for over fifty years. Yet amazingly, it has been the long-standing policy of the United States to demand that Israel appease its terrorist enemies in the name of peace.”
“Dr. Brook will show that the current US policy of pressuring Israel to negotiate with Arafat in the name of peace is as ludicrous as the US negotiating with Osama Bin Laden in the name of peace,” says Provenzo. “You can not negotiate for peace with someone who thinks you have no right to exist.”
Dr. Brook, formerly with Israeli Army Intelligence, has appeared recently to discuss the current Middle-East crises on Fox’s The O’Reilly Factor and Your World with Neil Cavuto, as well as numerous radio talk shows.
